Fundraising efforts continue to get creative but this is my favourite which is being done by the Big Bike Ride in Kelowna right now.  Our members paid $40.00 in order to put a pie in the face of a co-worker…  Please click the image for a larger version!

Pictured above is the Kelowna Firefighters Charitable Society donating $500.00 to the Walk So Kids Can Talk in support of the Kids Help Phone.  There are 6.5 million kids in Canada with access to this service so your donations are greatly appreciated in order to keep it running.

On Friday May 11, 2012 the Kelowna Professional Firefighters Charitable Society donated $500.00 to the Women’s Shelter during the Shelter From The Storm Radiothon put on by Q103.

This Radiothon was broadcast live from Homesense in order to generate funds for the Kelowna Women’s Shelter which helps women and children rebuild their lives.

The Kelowna Fire department will be hosting our 2nd annual Open House and pancake breakfast on Sunday June 10th 2012 from 9:00AM – 1:00 PM.  The Salvation Army will be preparing the pancake breakfast while we host activities in the Kid’s Zone as well as put on various demonstrations including high angle rope rescue, room and contents fire demo, auto extrication demonstration, and various other activities.  All proceeds from this event will be put toward the Burn Fund.  Please come out and support this great charity and see the duties that your local fire department is trained to perform.

The Kelowna Professional Firefighters Charitable Society presenting a $500.00 check to Team Scotia Volunteers for MS.

Larry Hollier, President of the Kelowna Professional Fire Fighters Association and Dennis Miller, Secretary of the Kelowna Professional Fire Fighters Association join Kelowna-Lake Country MLA Norm Letnick and Minister of Labour, Citizen’s Services and Open Government Dr. Margaret MacDiarmid in Victoria. Today, Minister MacDiarmid introduced the Emergency Intervention Disclosure Act, modelled on Letnick’s Private Member’s Bill, Help for Emergency Responders. The Act will ensure emergency workers can access information about potential disease exposure on the job.

The Kelowna Professional Firefighters Charitable Society donated $500.00 to the BC Children’s Hostpital Foundation in support of Dr. Knox Middle School.  The two kids we sponsored were Ethan Sheppy and Adam Nykilchuk.  For more information on the efforts from these two individuals please check out there pages at:

Shown above is a photo of the Kelowna Professional Firefighters presenting a $2000.00 check to the Salvation Army to help build a new garage for the Emergency Disaster Vehicle.  This vehicle will be found taking care of emergency first responders during any longer term incidents where meals and refreshments are required.

On April 26th 2012 the Have A Heart Radiothon took place with Sun FM, EZ Rock and AM 1150 being the driving force behind this local fundraiser.  The funds were raised for the Kelowna General Hospital Specialized Paediatrics unit of the new ER at KGH.  This unit will provide quality care for sick kids in our community and beyond.

The Kelowna Firefighters Charitable Society donated $5000.00 to this event and would like to thank everyone for their support in our fund raisers to allow us to present this donation.
